  • TN Police Remain on Alert for LTTE

    TAMIL Nadu police have stepped up patrolling and tightened security along the state's coast to prevent possible infiltration of LTTE remnants from Sri Lanka. "Twelve coastal police stations have been put on high alert," DGP K. P. Jain said on Sunday. He said the government has imported a hi-tech surveillance boat from Greece at a cost of Rs 2.1 crore to bolster coastal patrolling. "The boat has arrived in Chennai and will be pressed into search operations soon," he said.

A search in PUTHUKKUDIYIRUPPU south found two thermo baric weapons that had been brought to WANNI area by Tiger terrorists, irrespective of the fact that this weapon has been banned for use in consistent with GENEVA conventions.     THERE are over 700 students displaced from the North living in welfare centres in Vavuniya who would sit for the forthcoming GCE A Level examinations to be held in August, National Disaster Management Centre said.
