    A SINHALA and Hindu  New Year festival organized at Menik Farm Kadirgarmer relief village in Vavuniya on the instructions of Major General G.D.H.K. Gunaratne, Commander Security Forces, Wanni and Competent Authority for Internally Displaced People (IDP) in the North was conducted on 11th April 2010.   • Gifts Received by Security Forces Cricketers Gifted Again to Jaffna Youth

    A CRICKET tournament,  organized by the Security Forces Headquarters in Jaffna with a view to promoting goodwill between Security Forces personnel and Jaffna people was recently conducted at Jaffna Central Grounds.   Jaffna district based  cricket teams and the Security Forces Headquarters (male and female teams) participated in the tournament.

  • SECOND COURT MARTIAL: WRITTEN SUBMISSIONS TO BE COMPLETED BY 30TH APRIL

    The second Court Martial that resumed its sittings Tuesday (20) morning to hear charges against General Sarath Fonseka is to receive written submissions from both defence counsel and prosecution by 30th April before its next sitting on 4th May 2010 at 2.30 p.m. These written submissions are to be received by Rear Admiral W.W.J.S. Fernando who serves as Judge Advocate.

    COMMANDER of the Army Lieutenant General Jagath Jayasuriya, in order to receive New Year blessings and muster support for one of his most cherished welfare projects, construction of the Wellness Resort, ‘Abimansala’ at Anuradhapura met Ven. Elle Gunawansha Nayaka Thera, Chief Incumbent  at Dharmayathanaya, Bauddhaloka Mawatha, Colombo 7 on Monday (19). Lieutenant General Jayasuriya after religious observances at the shrine offered Atapirikara to the monk and received blessings from him as it was the Commander’s first religious assignment just after the New Year.

  • Widowed Mother in Jaffna Receives New Year Gift from Soldiers

    A WIDOWED mother of two children in Eluthumadduwal north, Jaffna received a New Year gift of a different nature on April 15th when all ranks in Mirusuvil-based 17th Battalion of the Gemunu Watch (GW) gifted her a new house, built using their own resources and labour. As part of the Jaffna Security Forces inducted 680 Housing Project, Mrs Piyavadani Sivandani, a widow with two children who was earlier displaced received the keys for the new house from the Commander.....
