  • Medical Officers Before Mrs Anoma Fonseka Clear General Sarath Fonseka of Any Ill-Health

    MEDICAL OFFICERS attending General Sarath Fonseka, detained at Navy Headquarters maintain that his health condition has not deteriorated as alleged by Mrs Anoma Fonseka and other spokespersons. The Army on its part has provided the medical services to him on a regular basis and round the clock since he continues to remain under Army care. No such complaint of sickness has been made by General Fonseka to this date, nor has any observation to that effect been made by the Navy Medical Officer in attendance.

  • Bangladesh Army Officers Learn Wanni Battles & Resettlement

    THE MILITARY delegation from People’s Republic of Bangladesh, now in Sri Lanka visited Vavuniya during the weekend and met   Commander, Security Forces Headquarters, Wanni as part of their familiarization programme in Sri Lanka. The Bangladeshi delegation, aimed at further promoting bilateral relations and the bondage between the two friendly Armies, began their tour after meeting Lieutenant General Jagath Jayasuriya, Commander of the Army at the Army Headquarters, earlier in the week.

  • Ketpeli Devotees Join Vanniyar Kovil Festival

    THE annual festival at Ketpeli Vanniyar Hindu temple in Jaffna was conducted on 24th and 25th March 2010 with the support given by Security Forces Headquarters, Jaffna on the instructions of Major General Mahinda Hathurusinghe, Commander Security Forces, Jaffna. 52 Division Commander in charge of the temple area gave his fullest support to the temple authorities for smooth conduct of the festival, making all arrangements including transport and security.  

  • 'Gajaba Mela' Collects its Target for Physiotherapy Unit

    ‘GAJABA MELA-2010’, organized by Gajaba Regiment (GR) War Heroes to raise funds for welfare of disabled GR War Heroes at Sugathadasa Indoor Stadium last Sunday (28) evening proved a great success as the organizers were able to bag  a record sum of about Rs 2.9 m, needed for construction of a new Physiotherapy unit cum Gymnasium at an estimated cost of Rs 3 m.  

  • Separatist Forces Still Active


    ALTHOUGH terrorism had been militarily defeated, local and foreign separatist forces have still not stopped their activities, Defence Secretary Gotabhaya Rajapaksa said. “As such every vote cast by the people at the April 8 election will be most valuable to totally defeat separatism,” he said. The Defence Secretary said so at a seminar held at Teldeniya town to educate the masses recently. He said the people should act intelligently at the forthcoming election since militarily defeated elements who failed to achieve their sinister objectives at the Presidential Election would try to achieve their aims at the General Election.
