  • Army Lance Corporal Wins First Place in Cycling


    Sri Lanka Army’s Lance Corporal W.G.L. Wijeratne of Sri Lanka Electrical and Mechanical Engineers (SLEME) Regiment won the first place in the two-day (July 5 - 6) long bicycle race of the ‘Hiru TV & FM’ media network. In the team racing events, Sri Lanka Army cyclists secured the second place, bringing reputation to the organization.

  • Abandoned Boats Returned to Legitimate Owners


    Sri Lanka Army’s 55 Division Headquarters under the Security Force Headquarters - Jaffna (SFHQ-J) recently resolved a long standing request for return of fishermen’s abandoned boats after their legitimate owners were properly identified. Of 39 boats that were found abandoned by troops of 19 Battalion Sri Lanka National Guard.......
     
  • Army Support Commended for Conduct of Church Feast


    19 Battalion Sri Lanka National Guard (SLNG) troops serving 553 Brigade of 55 Division Headquarters extended their full support for conduct of the 4 day (July 04 -07)-long feast at St Sebastian Church at Mullayaveli, Jaffna. Troops prior to the feast cleaned up the Church premises and its surroundings, and also renovated the approach road to the Church. Lavish cooperation of the troops for smooth conduct of the whole festival was commended by the parish priest and the Catholic community in the area.
  • Army Coordinates Rotary Club's Donation of Shoes & Bicycles

    Troops of 224 Brigade under 22 Division in a simple ceremony distributed 45 push bicycles and 150 pairs of shoes, donated by Wattala Rotary Club among three schools in Muttur area. 195 students from Venuur Central College, Kaleymagal Hindu College and Pathali Puram G.I.M.S College were the beneficiaries of the project, initiated by Brigadier Aruna Wanniarachchi, General Officer Commanding (GOC), 22 Division.
  • 'Pada Yathra' Pilgrims Given Medical Assistance


    The 631 Brigade medical team, based in Karathivu under Task Force 3 of the Security Forces Headquarters-East (SFHQ-E) offered medical assistance to the devotees, engaged in the annual ‘Pada Yathra’ when they were passing Thirikkovil area of the 631 Brigade. 12 Sri Lanka National Guard (SLNG) troops conducted this mobile clinic on Sunday (7) as those Hindu devotees were reaching the area.
  • Signallers Open Their Own Website


    Sri Lanka Signal Corps (SLSC) recently launched its own website to be in line with ever-increasing communication requirements. Major General E.P. de Z Abeysekara, Colonel Commandant of SLSC as the Chief Guest on the occasion inaugurated the new website, www.army.lk/signaller during a simple ceremony at Diyatalawa SLSC ‘Mercury House’ holiday bungalow at Diyatalawa. Major General (Retd) C.J Abeyrathna as the Guest of Honour attended the occasion, together with a large gathering of SLSC officers and other ranks. The website address is www.army.lk/signaller.
