  • Staff at South Sudan's Level - 2 Hospital Mark Army Anniversary


    Sri Lankan staff in the newly-established Level - 2 Hospital of the Sri Lanka Army in South Sudan under the United Nations Mission in South Sudan (UNMISS) marked the  65th Army Anniversary and Army Day (October 10) during a few ceremonies.   • Accidental Fall Causes Death to Two Soldiers


    The accidental fall of a section of an earth-bund under construction at Pankulam in the general area of Morawewa where troops are engaged in restoring the earth-bund of the Pankulam lake, caused death to two soldiers working there Friday (17) morning. The two soldiers, Private H.W.P Lakmal and Private J.A.D.L Chandra Bandara of 3  Engineer Service Regiment (ESR), were engaged in the reconstruction of the bund which pumps water to area for irrigational purposes at the time of the tragedy.

    Cementing the existing religious amity further and setting an example for continuous harmonious living, the Army-renovated badly damaged Masjidun Noor Mosque alias Adikarigoda Mosque at Aluthgama was reopened and facilitated again for conduct of prayers during a simple ceremony Friday (17) evening, giving pride of place for religious observances.

    The Japan - Sri Lanka Friendship Association (JSFA), endorsing its wholehearted support to the Sri Lanka Army once again, donated one more ambulance to the Army during a brief ceremony at Army Headquarters on Monday (20). The day’s donation ceremony kicked off soon after the Japanese donors and Major General Sumeda Perera, Director General General Staff, on behalf of the Commander, arrived at the venue at Army Headquarters to a warm welcome.
