  • East Troops Organize A Series of 'Pirikara Pooja Pinkam' & Social Services


    With the sponsorship of Mrs Wasantha Pothupitiya and her family members from Gampaha, 24 Division under the Security Force Headquarters - East (SFHQ-E) organized a series of Pirikara Pooja Pinkam during the last two weeks. According to the programme, Pirikara and books, worth of Rs 45,000/= were distributed among 30 monks, studying at Sasthraveli Pirivena in Panama on Saturday (15).

    Lieutenant General Daya Ratnayake, Commander of the Army as the second segment of his itinerary in Diyatalawa on Thursday (27), took part in the prize-giving ceremony for best shooters and snipers who shone in the Inter Regiment Practical Rifle Meet - 2014, organized by Diyatalawa Marksmanship and Sniper Training School (MSTS) at the Field Firing Range.

    The outgoing Ambassador for Republic of Korea, Mr Arjuna Jongmoon Choi, paid a courtesy call on the Commander of the Army, Lieutenant General Daya Ratnayake Tuesday (25) evening before his departure on the completion of his tenure in Sri Lanka.
  • Kilinochchi Commander Alerts Rehabilitated Ex-combatants to External Pressures


    Major General Sudantha Ranasinghe, Commander, Security Force Headquarters - Kilinochchi (SFHQ-KLN) recently met rehabilitated ex-combatants who were resettled in Kilinochchi area. During the visit (March 25 - 26) Kilinochchi Commander discussed current issues, related to the re-settlers and solutions to their problems.
  • DLB Reciprocates Army Assistance at 'Deyata Kirula' with Support to SLLI Welfare Roles


    Development Lotteries Board (DLB) on Friday (28) offered its financial assistance towards the welfare of the Sri Lanka Light Infantry (SLLI) soldiers after several DLB officials, called at the Commander’s office at the Army Headquarters. The DLB donation was made possible, following the support the DLB received from the SLLI soldiers in the sale of entry tickets to the recently-ended ‘Deyata Kirula - 2014’ mega exhibition at Kuliyapitiya.
  • All Set for the Mega 'Sannaliyane' Musical Fiesta



    The fund-raising musical extravaganza, ‘Sannaliyane’ with an array of vocalists that represent four generations, is to go on the boards on Sunday (30) at Sugathadasa Indoor Stadium, with a galaxy of distinguished guests including diplomats. The entertaining feature, organized by the Army Seva Vanitha Unit (ASVU), presided by Mrs Damayanthi Ratnayake through its ‘Brave Hearts’ project, has been scripted by veteran composer, Bandara Eheliyagoda.

    A packed audience of near five thousand, including HE the President Mahinda Rajapaksa and First Lady Mrs Shiranthi Rajapaksa, were awestruck Sunday (30) evening by soothing and mellifluous music of Maestro Pandith W.D. Amaradeva whose ‘Sannaliyane’ music fiesta, organized by the Army Seva Vanitha Unit (ASVU), interpreted and articulated the true meaning of the cyclic nature of the Sansara, dramatized by unmatched artistes.
