Diyatalawa based Security Force Headquarters - Central (SFHQ-C), fulfilling the need to be on par with fast-changing media and communication strategies, launched its own website (www.army.lk/sfhqcentral) during a ceremony at Diyatalawa, headed by Lieutenant General Daya Ratnayake, Commander of the Army.
At the invitation of Major General U.A.B Medawela, Commander, SFHQ-C who took the initiative in making the new information wing a reality for the Headquarters, the Commander of the Army as the Chief Guest to the occasion, launched the website by logging on as a distinguished gathering of invitees looked on.
The new SFHQ-C website, with its link to the official www.army.lk of the Sri Lanka Army, focuses on all information, pertaining to the conduct of administrative matters, civil-society-oriented projects, developments at Unit, Brigade and Division levels, contact points, etc and will provide an update on current events in the SFHQ-C.
Extending his best wishes on the inauguration of the new information wing, the Commander thanked SFHQ-C Commander and all who worked hard to make the new project a success and assured his cooperation in the future.
Upon the Commander’s arrival at the SFHQ-C premises, military honours, including a Guard Turn Out and a Guard of Honour at the parade square, saluted him as the Chief Guest for the occasion. He was warmly received by Major General U.A.B Medawela, Commander, SFHQ-C since it was the first time an incumbent Commander was visiting the SFHQ-C.
Soon after the launch of the new website, the Commander in his customary address to the troops serving the SFHQ-C, urged them to maintain the highest levels of discipline in the organization and come up with new innovative and fresh concepts for the betterment of the organization.
Major General Medawela towards the end of the address presented a token of memento to the visiting Commander in order to signify the importance of the latter’s visit to the SFHQ-C.
Later on the Commander went to see the proposed new site for establishment of the SFHQ-C and the workshop of the Sri Lanka Electrical and Mechanical Engineering (SLEME) before he inspected newly allocated battalion locations and the 7 Sri Lanka Signal Corps camp site.
During his stay, the Commander also paid visits to Marksmanship and Sniper Training School (MSTS), Ella camp and the Volunteer Force Training School (VFTS), all in the suburbs of Diyatalawa and met officers and other ranks serving those formations. During his interactions with officers and other ranks in those places, Lieutenant General Ratnayake inquired into the needs of those places in general.
Major General S.W.L Daulagala, Director General, General Staff, Director Training, all General Officers Commanding, Brigade Commanders, Sri Lanka Army Media Advisor, senior officers and other officers were associated with the launch of the SFHQ-C website.
