  • VIR Ex-servicemen Hold Their Annual General Meeting


    The Annual General Meeting (AGM) of Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment (VIR) Ex-Servicemen’s Association was held on 14th March 2014 at VIR Regimental Headquarters under the patronage of Major General (retd) J. Nammuni, President, VIR Ex-Servicemen’s Association and Major General D.U. Munasinghe, former Colonel of the Regiment, VIR. A new executive committee and office-bearers were elected for the new year during this meeting.

    A new Gymnasium for Army Body Builders and Heavy Weight lifters was declared opened by Brigadier M. H. P. Mihindukulasuriya, President, Army Body Building and Heavy Weight Lifting Sports Club and Colonel Commandant, Sri Lanka Army General Service Corps (SLAGSC) on Friday (21) at Panagoda.

    59 Division troops in accordance with military traditions, presented a Guard of Honour to Major General A S De Z Wickramarathne, General Officer Commanding, 59 Division on Saturday (22) upon his promotion to the rank of Major General. He has held a number of key appointments in the Army.

    The pet project of the Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment (VIR)The Vijayabahu Motor Cross at the country’s most difficult track with fourteen bends, two double jumps and four single jumps, kicked off Sunday (30) morning at Vijayabahu track in Boyagane, Kurunegala before a large gathering of fans, drawn from every corner of the island.

    The outgoing Ambassador for Republic of Korea, Mr Arjuna Jongmoon Choi, paid a courtesy call on the Commander of the Army, Lieutenant General Daya Ratnayake Tuesday (25) evening before his departure on the completion of his tenure in Sri Lanka. Mr Jongmoon Choi during his three-year long stint in Sri Lanka took much interest.....
