    Sri Lanka Army athletes, attending the Lusofonia Games in Goa, India won five Gold medals (4 x 100 m), one Silver medal (1500 m) and three Bronze medals (400 m hurdles), bringing honour to the country.   • Table Tennis Championship Goes to Army Lieutenant


    Lieutenant S.K Liyanage of Sri Lanka Signal Corps (SLSC) in the Western Province Table Tennis (Open) Tournament, clinched the Championship in men’s category (single) on January 26. Lieutenant J.H.A.U.S Jayakody (SLSC), Lance Corporal T.S Neththigamage of Sri Lanka Corps of Military Police, Signalman Y.R.M Priyankara of SLSC, Signalman M.A.S Pushpakumara of SLSC and Private M.M.N Munasinghe of Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment were among other Table Tennis players who did well during the tournament.
     
  • Delft Island Maha Vidyalayam's New Sports Pavillion Opened


    Students at Delft Maha Vidyalayam, Jaffna, who showed their colours at the recent Inter House Athletic Meet, held their prize-giving ceremony on Wednesday (29) at the school playground. Commander Security Force Headquarters-Jaffna (SFHQ-J) Major General Udaya Perera graced the ceremony as the Chief Guest at the invitation of the Principal.

    Sri Lanka Military Police, probing into the alleged felling of some trees in Bogamuwayaya, Maha Oya Wildlife Reserve for construction purposes by soldiers, led by a Lieutenant, have detained all the suspects in open military custody soon after they were released on bail by Dehiattakandiya Magistrate on Thursday (30) after the Police produced them before Court........

    Sri Lanka Army Military Intelligence Corps (MIC) Regimental Headquarters at Karandeniya, turned a new chapter in MIC’s lifespan of more than 30 years on Friday (31) when it moved into a newly-constructed administrative complex and simultaneously honoured its fallen War Heroes with erection of their own new war memorial in the premises.
     
  • Army Chief Makes Historic Donation to Enhance Welfare of Civil Staff


    Nearly 5800 members of the Sri Lanka Army’s Civilians’ Benefit Association (CBA) of the Directorate of Civil Administration, due to a historic gesture of goodwill donation of the Commander of the Army, Lieutenant General Daya Ratnayake, are to be benefitted further, enabling the CBA to provide enhanced welfare projects towards its members.
     
  • Prolonged Illness Causes Death of University Entrant Under Leadership Training


    A university entrant undergoing "Leadership and Personality Development" Joint Training Programme at Sri Lanka Electrical and Mechanical Engineers (SLEME) Training School of the Army at Gannoruwa, passed away in the wee hours on Saturday (1) while receiving medical treatment at Peradeniya Teaching Hospital after a surgery for a prolonged illness.
     
  • Nepal's Chief of Army Staff Arrives to a Warm Welcome

     
     
    Nepal’s Army Chief of Staff, General Gaurav Shumsher Jung Bahadur Rana at the invitation of his Sri Lankan counterpart, Lieutenant General Daya Ratnayake, arrived in Sri Lanka on a 6 day official visit Saturday (1) evening. A red carpet welcome at the Colombo Bandaranaike International Airport greeted him on arrival at the tarmac.
