  • Commander Meets Maha Sangha During His Visit to Welikanda


    On the sidelines of his visit to the Security Force Headquarters - East (SFHQ -E) on Monday (8), Commander of the Army, Lieutenant General Daya Ratnayake took time off to meet a gathering of 186 monks at the officers’ mess of the SFHQ - E. After the brief meeting, Lieutenant General Daya Ratnayake offered Ata Pirikara to 186 Buddhist monks soon after the offer of alms to the same group.

  • All Privileges to be Awarded on a Presidential Directive to War Heroes Went on Retirement or Obtained Discharge after Injuries, Sustained in Terrorist Attacks


    A total of 1624 disable War Heroes who went on retirement or obtained discharge from the Army, having suffered injuries in terrorist attacks, are to be given all entitled privileges in December 2014 by the Commander of the Army, on a Presidential directive, following initiatives, taken by the Secretary Defence, Mr Gotabaya Rajapaksa.
     
     
  • 405 Recruits Join Active Service in Punani PoP


    A batch of 405 new recruits after completion of their basic Army training passed out at the 23 Division parade square in Punani on Wednesday (10) during a colourful ceremony. Brigader D.D.U.K Hettiarachchi, General Officer Commanding, 23 Division took the salute from the new recruits as the Chief Guest of the parade.
