  • Confirming Authority Confirms Sentence on G.S.C Fonseka

    The convening Officer of the Court Martial II Commander in Chief of the Armed Forces His Excellency the President Mahinda Rajapaksa as the Confirming Authority on 29 September 2010 confirmed the accused G.S.C Fonseka be sentenced for 30 months rigorous Imprisonment imposed by the Court Martial that probed the accused’s  involvement in purchasing of military equipment deviating from the tender procedure on four separate counts, whiles on active service.

  • Army Goes All Out for Dengue Eradication

    Sri Lanka Army celebrating its 61 years of founding this year has organized a series of community oriented events to coincide with the Army Day on 10th October. The soldiers who eradicated terrorism from the country through offensive operations have this time lined up to launch an all out offensive against Dengue outbreak on a concept of the Commander of the Army Lieutenant General Jagath Jayasuriya. The Army will join hands with the Ministry of Health in conducting the National Dengue Control Week which is scheduled to be conducted island wide from 7th October.

    Closing Ceremony and presentation of awards for the winners of the Defence Services Games (DSG) 2010 was held Friday (1) at Sugathadasa Stadium Colombo with Secretary of Defence Mr. Gotabaya Rajapaksa gracing the ceremony as Chief Guest.   • Army Day Hindu Religious Ceremonies Get Underway

    The Hindu ceremony to invoke blessings on the Army and the 61st anniversary on was held at Sri Balaselvanayagam Murthi Kovil, Captain Gardens, Colombo 10 Monday (4) afternoon. Commander of the Army Lieutenant General Jagath Jayasuriya, Brigadier R.
