    In the recently concluded Inter Regiment Rugby Tournament, Gemunu Watch (GW) ruggerites outdid their rivals, Gajaba Regiment (GR) players under ‘B’ Division championship, securing 13-7 points. GW winners received the championship trophy from the Commander of the Army, Lieutenant General Jagath Jayasuriya who graced the occasion as Chief Guest at Diyagamam Mahinda Rajapaksa Stadium.

  • Army's Newest 'Resource Centre' to Begin Its Vocational Training Programmes Soon


    Plans are afoot by the Army to set up a fully-fledged vocational training centre, ‘Ranaviru Sampath Kendraya’ (Resource Centre for War Heroes) for the express purpose of tapping potential of the Army’s disable and retired personnel.   • Commander Arrives in Pakistan To a Warm Welcome


    Commander of the Army Lieutenant General Jagath Jayasuriya at the invitation of his Pakistan's counterpart, General Ashfaq Parvez Kayani, arrived in Pakistan Sunday (April 1) on a six-day goodwill tour. Upon arrival at Chuklala, Pakistan's Air Force Base, the visiting Commander of the Army Lieutenant General Jagath Jayasuriya, together with his delegation, was warmly received by a senior General in the Pakistan Army. The delegation visiting Pakistan, consists of Mrs Manjulika Jayasuriya, the spouse of the visiting Commander and President, Seva Vanitha Army Branch, Major General Jagath Alwis, Director General, General Staff and four more officers. During the six-day long stay in Pakistan, the Commander of the Army is scheduled to call on General Ashfaq Parvez Kayani, Pakistan's Chief of Army Staff.....
