  • Army Netballers Clinch Inter-Club Championship After 19 Years

     Sri Lanka Army Netballers emerged champions in the Inter-Club Open Netball Championship after 19 years beating Sri Lanka Air Force 11 : 8 and Sri Lanka Navy 12 : 7. The tournament was held at Ewariwatta Grounds, Katunayake recently (3 - 4 March). Captain WBN Weerakkody of the Army team was adjudged the best player of the tournament.

    ‘Vijayabahu Motorcross - 2012’, the sporting pride of the Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment (VIR) got underway at Boyagane VIR  Headquarters complex tracks on Sunday (11) to a packed crowd of more than 25000 - 30000 sport enthusiasts and motor racing fans. The 10th Vijayabahu Motorcross in the country’s most difficult track with fourteen bends, two double jumps and four single jumps, for the first time in its history.....

    Lieutenant General Ajay Kumar Singh, General Officer Commanding-in-Chief, Southern Command of the Indian Army, now in Sri Lanka on a five-day goodwill visit, called on Lieutenant General Jagath Jayasuriya, Commander of the Army Monday (12) morning at the Commander’s office, Army Headquarters, Colombo 3. Lieutenant General Ajay Kumar Singh’s five-member delegation is comprised of Mrs Suneeti Singh, Brigadier Rahul Bhardwaj and his spouse, Mrs Jyothi Bhardwaj and Colonel Natarajan Subramaniam.........
