    Newly resettled families in Mayanuwar village area in the 57 Division under Security Forces Headquarters, Kilinochchi (SFHQ-KLN) received 5 new houses as a result of the support given by Army troops.   • Commander in His New Year Speech Urges Troops to Dedicate More & More to Make Country, 'Miracle of Asia'


    Hoisting of the National Flag as well as the Army Flag amidst rhythms of auspicious drums (Magul Bera), followed by recital of the National Anthem and the Army Song on Monday (2 January 2012) at the Army Headquarters, greeted the dawn of the first working day of the New Year-2012. Lieutenant General Jagath Jayasuriya, Commander of the Army giving pride of prominence to the country, hoisted the National Flag while Major General R.M.D Rathnayaka, Chief of Staff, Army Headquarters raised the Army Flag in accordance with customary military traditions amidst beating of auspicious drums (Magul Bera).  The service commitment pledge that reminds the Army’s allegiance to the Constitution and the public service, as is the tradition in all other state institutes, was then read out. The day’s climax on the agenda took place afterwards as the Commander of the Army rose to his feet to address the gathering. In his speech, the Commander commended the roles and tasks of all Army personnel who have contributed tremendously to the forward march of the country. ‘By way of mass scale participation in development roles, the Army has saved more than Rs. 3.7 billion to the government and those roles are still continuing,’ the Commander said.

  • GR Troops' Contribution to the Humanitarian Operation Receives Sentimental Value with Commander's Visit to Saliyapura


    As the first assignment away from the Army Headquarters in the New Year, Lieutenant General Jagath Jayasuriya, Commander of the Army, took time off to visit the Gajaba Regiment (GR) Regimental Headquarters at Saliyapura on Tuesday (3) with a view to recording his sentimental gratitude and extending his best wishes to GR troops for the New Year. In his capacity as Wanni Commander before May 2009, it was mostly the GR War Heroes who rolled on, together with fellow troops.....
  • SL Engineers Honour Sports Achievements in 2010 - 2011


    Sri Lanka Engineers (SLE) Regiment, one of the leading support wings in the Army, had its combined 2010 - 2011 ‘Colours Night’ at its Panagoda Regimental Headquarters on Tuesday (3) evening. Amidst rounds of roaring applause, the spectacular event awarded Defence Services Colours to 4 serving or retired SLE officers and other ranks. It also honoured 12 more with Army Colours and 33 more with Regimental Colours during the well-attended event.......
  • Army Organizes a Public Lecture in Trincomalee


    A public lecture on “What is Life” was organized by the 22 Division of the Sri Lanka Army in Trincomalee recently (01) with the guidance of General Officer Commanding 22 Division Brigadier D. D. U. K. Hettiarachchi. The lecture conducted by well known mentor Prof Sumanadasa Galmangoda was held at the Vivekananda School with a participation of a large number of civilians in addition to the Army, Navy, Air Force, Police and Civil Security Department personnel.....
