  • Army Wrestlers Shine Claiming Five Gold & 8 Other Medals


    Sri Lanka Army Wrestlers, competing in the National Wrestling Tournament of the 40th National Games at Nuwara Eliya Public Grounds, held in the past weekend (June 14 - 15), carried away 5 Gold, 4 Silver and 4 Bronze medals. Competitions under 11 weight categories got off with the participation of about 50 Army wrestlers representing various districts. 15 Army wrestlers picked on district basis vied in the tournament.

    The Sri Lanka Military Academy (SLMA) at Diyatalawa wore ceremonial garbs one more time on Saturday (21) and adorned the shoulders of 60 more brave sons and daughters of the country with insignia of the President’s Commission when they passed out in a glittering spectacle upon completion of their graduate studies.  
     
  • No Chance for Revival of Armed Elements


    Commander of the Sri Lanka Army, Lt. General Daya Rathnayake in an interview with the Dailymirror shared his views on the recent violence in the South-western region of the country and asserted that the Sri Lanka Army is a reflection of the vibrant cultures that exist in Sri   Lanka and is not confined to a race or religion. He asserted that the intelligence network in this country was strong and there would be no room for a revamp of any armed extremist element within the country.

    Sri Lanka Army Baseball players, competing in the Defence Service Games (DSG), held for three consecutive days (June 19, 20 & 21) at Diyagama Mahinda Rajapaksa International Stadium, won the championship trophy after a close tussle with the rival Sri Lanka Navy team. This was the first time Baseball was introduced to the DSG.....
