  • Headquarters Logistic Command Organizes Many 'Vesak' Programmes


    Headquarters Logistic Command held a series of meritorious activities on account of Vesak commemoration. Troops cleaned up the Boralugoda temple premises and Kosgama Government Hospital on Wednesday (29). Next day, troops cleaned up the Children’s Home premises of the Kosgama Sarvodaya Suwasetha Seva Society and offered lunch to the inmates and the staff of the children’s home.
     
  • Vesak 'Dansela' at Mulankavil Attracts Hundreds

     
    Army personnel of the 11 Gajaba Regiment under the Security Force Headquarters - Kilinochchi (SFHQ-KLN) shared Buddhist virtues of generosity opening a rice ‘Dansela’ at Mulankavil area on the Vesak Full Moon Poya Day (3). The free eatery attracted more than 800 Vesak sight-seers and poor families who came there to see Vesak decorations on account of Vesak commemoration. The Dansela was organized as a gesture of goodwill under the guidance of Commander, 651 Brigade.
     
  • More Than 13,000 Enjoy 23 Division 'Vesak Dansel' Treat


    Troops of the 23 Division Headquarters at Punani under the Security Force Headquarters - East (SFHQ-E) did their share for commemoration of the Thrice Blessed Day, ‘Vesak’ during May 3-5 by actively contributing to the multi-coloured decorations along Batticaloa - Polonnaruwa main road. The most attractive piece of decoration was put up by the troops at the main entrance to the 23 Division Headquarters....
     
  • NCOTS Celebrates 'Vesak' with Elaborate Programmes


    The Non commissioned Officers Training School (NCOTS) at Kalaoya, Saliyawewa marked Vesak festival with a series of religious activities during 28 April – 03 May. A Shramadana Campaign was first conducted with the assistance of Officers and Other Rankers of NCOTS at Sri Vijayarama Temple on 28 April as the first project.
     
  • Tamil Recruits Under Training Meet Family Members


    Parents, relatives or family members of 46 Tamil recruits, still under training at Pudukuduirippu Battalion Training School on Saturday (9) arrived at the Security Force Headquarters – Mullaittivu (SFHQ-MLT) grounds in order to meet their beloved ones and enjoy a social get-together.

  • 57 Division Troops Celebrate Vesak


    Several Formations under the 57 Division Headquarters in the Security Force Headquarters-Kilinochchi (SFHQ-KLN) organized several programmes to mark Vesak Poya Day. 572 Brigade, together with 8 Sri Lanka Sinha Regiment (SLSR) and 6 Sri Lanka National Guard (SLNG) troops organized a Dansela of biscuits & refreshments.

  • Sri Lankan Relief Contingent in Nepal Returns Home to a Warm Welcome



    Having kept the Sri Lankan National Flag flying nearly for 16 days while showing earthquake-affected Nepalese that ‘We are also concerned as part of the relief solution to them’, the Sri Lankan tri-service rescue and relief contingent, returned home Monday (11) evening to a warm welcome at the Colombo Bandaranaike International Airport (BIA).
  • World's End Army Rescuer Felicitated in Company's Annual Sales Conference


    The rescuer, Sergeant Sudesh Lalinda of 3 (Volunteer) Sri Lanka Sinha Regiment (SLSR) who risked his own life and recently saved a Dutch national from death in the World’s End, was felicitated in the Annual Sales Conference of the Hemas Company Limited, held at Hotel Citrus, Waskaduwa on Friday (8). The Annual Sales Conference (ASC), said to be the biggest event in the company with ‘sales force’ gathering under one roof for conferencing.....
  • CES Vesak Lantern Wins Second Place at 'Buddha Rashimi' Vesak Zone


    The ‘Vesak’ Lantern presented by the Corps of Engineer Services (CES) of Sri Lanka Army won the second place at the ‘Buddha RashmiVesak Zone in Gangaramaya, Hunpitiya.The lantern, depicting two important events of the life of the Buddha, the Great Renunciation and the attaining of enlightenment, has been able to draw large crowds at the Vesak Zone. The lantern was made of organic material using coconut shells and coconut dries Matalu, Kithul seeds, cane and Bo leaves.
  • Commander Commends Relief Contribution & Pays Tribute to Sri Lankan Contingent



    Lieutenant General Crishanthe De Silva, Commander of the Army in a special tribute ceremony, held at the Army Headquarters on Tuesday (12), applauded the Sri Lankan relief contingent for its invaluable commitment and expedition to Nepal as one of the firsts to arrive there from a foreign nation for rescue and relief operations.
