  • Over 900 Civilians Escape From Terrorist Grip

    MULLAITTIVU: NINE hundred and thirteen civilians including of two hundred and ninety-nine men, three hundred and sixty- three women and two hundred and thirty-four small children reached troops in PUTHUKUDIYIRUPPU, MUNEI and PULMODDAI areas during Saturday (28).Troops sent those civilians to the Relief Village and IDP centres after giving them refreshments.

  • Army Contributes to National Health Week

    In parallel with the National Health Week (Dec 10-17), the 515 Brigade troops at Kankasanturai conducted a cleaning campaign in the Telippalai Base Hospital premises on Saturday (15). More than 75 soldiers of the 7 Gajaba Regiment (GR) serving the 515 Brigade carried out the Shramadana (Self Help) programme.

    The ‘Ex-Cormorants Strike’, the first-ever nine-day long joint exercise in the history of Sri Lanka Army and armed forces is to be commenced on 21st November with the participation of over 2500 troops, drawn from the Army, Navy and Air Force. Under the auspices of Secretary Defence Mr Gotabaya Rajapaksa, the exercise of this magnitude, the brainchild of the Commander of the Army Lieutenant General Jagath Jayasuriya is to be conducted in areas spanning from Silawathura, Mannar to Mavillu in Thanthirimale, Anuradhapura.
  • Commander Delivers Opening Address at OCDC Seminar

    The bi-annual Seminar of the Officer Career Development Centre (OCDC) at Buttala, themed on “Evolution of war fighting and Adaptability of Armed Forces” was held at OCDC Auditorium on Monday (17) morning.     The closing ceremony of the 52nd Inter Regiment Athletics Championship of the Army and award of trophies to winners, took place at the Sugathadasa National Stadium Thursday (27) evening during a grand and wonderful ceremony. Organized by the Army Athletics Committee, chaired by Major General Amal Karunasekara, the closing ceremony was graced by the Commander of the Army, Lieutenant General Crishanthe De Silva as the Chief Guest.
