  • Day - 2 Defence Seminar Sessions on 'Rehabilitation & Reintegration' Begin


    Thursday (9) sessions of the Army-organized ‘Defence Seminar - 2012’ at Colombo Galadari Hotel had been set apart for deliberations on ‘Rehabilitation and Reintegration’ which evoked interest among many of the delegates since Sri Lanka could be the one and only nation which completed reintegration of ex-combatants within such a short span of time after proper rehabilitation.
     
  • Pooneryn Maha Vidyalaya Gets Army-Built New IT Centre


    A new IT centre, put up by Army troops at Pooneryn Maha Vidyalaya with the patronage, extended by Hayles Company Ltd, Vavuniya was recently opened by General Officer Commanding (GOC) for 66 Division and formally handed over to the school during a brief ceremony. Two Executive Officers of Hayleys Company Ltd represented the opening ceremony of the new IT centre, equipped with eight new computers and the entire construction was carried out by engineers in the Army.

    I’m here to speak as an Indian, but an Indian very sympathetic to the cause which the present Government of Sri Lanka is committed. When I was coming in the Delhi airport there was a poster of the ministry of environment in which it said 'be aware the tiger is becoming extinct'. Well I said I’m going to a country it is already extinct. I must say that the victory of the government of Sri Lanka over the terrorist organization called LTTE is a historic landmark in the history of the world. Because it was a decisive victory. There had been terrorism in the other parts of the world where compromises have been made.
  • Inter Regiment Boxing Meet Ends Qualifying Several for the South Asian Tournament

    The Inter Regiment Boxing Tournament, held recently at Army Cantonment Indoor Stadium for four days (July 24,25,26,31). 81 boxers from fourteen regiments competed in the tournament and boxers, Private W.A.C.I Perera (below 49 kg) of Sri Lanka Army Ordnance Corps (SLAOC), Lance Corporal S.R.P Ranaweera (below 52 kg) of Gajaba Regiment, Corporal W.R.P Weerakkody (below 56 kg) of Sri Lanka Army Service Corps (SLASC).....

  • 62 Division Organized Medical Seminar Receives ICRC Support


    With the intention of promoting health of civilians living in Monarawewa and Gajabapura villages under Gajabapura Grama Niladari Division in Mullaittivu District, a three-day seminar on first aid and community health was organized by 62 Division under Security Forces Headquarters, Wanni (SFHQ-W) during July 24-26.
