Expanding the ongoing house construction projects, the Commander, Security Forces- East (SF -East), Major General M.K.U.P Gunaratne RSP ndu psc IG, along with Mrs. Nayomi Ranaweera, Chairperson of Sri Lanka Army Women’s Corps Seva Vanitha Branch, completed one more house for a deserving Non-Commisioned Officer (NCO) of the 3 (V) Battalion Sri Lanka Army Women's Corps and formally warmed it during a ceremony in Welikanda.
The NCO, serving at Security Force Headquarters (East), was undergoing tremendous hardships with her unemployed husband and two children as she did not own a house. Responding swiftly to alleviate their plight, Mr. Gengasuthan Mylvaganam a known philanthropist generously contributed Rs. 1.2 Million, as per the request of the Commander, SF -East to facilitate the construction of a new dwelling for this deserving family.
On 21 February 2024, the, the Chairperson of Sri Lanka Army Women’s Corps Seva Vanitha Branch, graced the house warming ceremony, symbolically presenting the keys to the NCO and her family. Additionally, essential household appliances were provided, ensuring their transition into their new home is smooth and comfortable.
Senior Officers, Officers, Residential Project Manager Mahaweli Welikanda and Other Ranks participated in the event.
