Responding to an urgent request from the Irrigation Engineer in charge of the Sagama tank, troops from the 8 Sri Lanka National Guard (8 SLNG) swiftly undertook repairs to address a crack in the embankment caused by prevailing weather conditions on 09 January 2024.
Sandbags were laid and the tank bund was reconstructed by the troops, with the assistance of officials from the Thambiluvil Irrigation Department and local residents. The operation was conducted under the direction of Major General W. Chandrasiri RSP USP psc, General Officer Commanding of 24 Division, and supervised by the Commander of the 242 Infantry Brigade and the Commanding Officer of the 8 SLNG.
