The 'Youth Junior and Senior National Weightlifting Championship -2023' commenced at the National Sports Complex, Gallalla, Polonnaruwa from 27-30 December. Participants from various weightlifting clubs across the island took part in the championship.
A total of 11 sports clubs, including representatives from the Army, Navy and Air Force, competed in the tournament. Notably, the Sri Lanka Army Women's Weightlifting Team achieved an impressive feat by winning 3 Silver and 2 Bronze medals in the competition.
