Troops of the 5 (V) Sri Lanka Artillery (SLA) of the 222 Infantry Brigade under the 22 Infantry Division of the Security Force HQ - East gave away packs of essentials as gifts to 20 needy pregnant women in Agbopura after inviting them to Agbopura Primary Medical Care Unit premises on Saturday (23 December)
Each pregnant woman under this programme received those packs, each worth Rs 10,000/=, comprised of nutrients, cereals and baby needs during the event. Mrs Shanti Latha, Mrs. Indrani Swarnalatha, Mrs. Kumuduni, Mr. Wasantha Diyawadana and Mr. Kamalasiri Diyawadana provided the sponsorship for those essentials at the request of the troops.
The charity programme was organized following instructions given by the General Officer Commanding, 22 Infantry Divison Major General P.A.M Peiris RSP USP psc.
222 Infantry Brigade Commander Brigadier, H.K.S Thilakaratne and the supervision of the Commanding Officer of 5 (V) SLA, Lieutenant Colonel W.W.M.P.B Wekadapola USP psc IG contributed to the success of the project.
