Engine Modification Project for Condemned Motorcycle Conducted on Test Basis

Possibilities for complete overhaul of condemned motorbikes with replacement of Bajaj 150 cc engine for condemned unserviceable DT 175 cc motorcycles were processed for modification on experimental basis at the Security Force Headquarters -Wanni with the expertise provided by 5 Battalion Sri Lanka Electrical and Mechanical Engineers troops at Saliyapura.

As a start to the project, the engine modification was done on an unserviceable DT 175 cc motorcycle by utilizing a brand new Bajaj 150 cc engine and the modification process was conducted at the 5 Battalion Sri Lanka Electrical and Mechanical Engineers camp at Saliyapura following an initiative taken by the Commander Security Forces-Wanni, Major General W.P.A.D.W Nanayakkara RSP VSV USP ndu.

The project was monitored by the commanding officer of the 5 Sri Lanka Electrical and Mechanical Engineers, Major K.P.C Fernando USP psc lsc. Corporal H.R.K.C Aravinda and Lance Corporal L.G.D.M Jayasinghe were involved in this project as technicians. The initial supervision and test runs were conducted on 18 December 2023 in the presence of the Commander, Security Forces-Wanni at the headquarters premises.
