551 Infantry Brigade troops of the 55 Infantry Division HQ with the intention of fostering better relations laid the foundation stone for construction of a new house to a deserving family in the general area of Udayanagar East area in Kilinochchi on 14 December 2023, thanks to the generosity extended by Dr. Sriya Duraiyappah of Wanni Aid Canada through the coordination of Major General R. Ratnasingham (retd).
Accordingly, 7 Battalion Sri Lanka Light Infantry troops undertaking the project laid the foundation stone and began construction of the house providing man power and technical expertise for the proposed house for the deserving family of Mrs. Padmanathan Radhika in Udayanagar East, Kilinochchi The construction of the proposed house got underway with the supervision of the Commander of the 551 Infantry Brigade under the guidance of the General Officer Commanding, 55 Infantry Division.
The scheduled programme for the day concluded with planting of a sapling and distribution of dry ration packs to the beneficiaries. This event was attended by Brigade Commanders of 552 and 553 Infantry Brigades, Colonel General Staff of the 55 Infantry Division, Senior Officers, Senior Superintendent of Police Ajith Gunarathne (Rtd), Assistant Superintendent of Police Kilinochchi, Other Invitees and several civilians attended the simple ceremony.
