Troops of the 20 Gajaba Regiment (GR) under the 221 Infantry Brigade of the 22 Infantry Division of the Security Force Headquarters - East for the benefit of deserving civilians held a mobile eye clinic and cataract screening programme on 9 December 2023 at Pulmoddai Muslim Central College.
A total of 217 civilians of all ethnicity received consultations during the clinic. Out of this group, 56 individuals underwent cataract screening, while 161 registered themselves for spectacles. The Chairman of Assist Resettlement and Renaissance organization, Dr. Sarveswaram, along with 13 crew members, including Dr. Nizma Razik and Dr. Kajana sponsored the cost for spectacles and provided necessary medical aids.
The General Officer Commanding, 22 Infantry Division and the Brigade Commander, 221 Infantry Brigade provided necessary guidance for success of the project.
