The Army Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) squadron, together with 14 Chemical, Biological, Radiological, Nuclear, and Explosives (CBRNE) Response Unit of Sri Lanka Engineers conducted a two-day workshop for 47 personnel of the President's Security Division (PSD) on ‘Identifying and Handling Explosives’ during November 25 – 26 at the Presidential Secretariat Office in Colombo.
The workshop was arranged under the instructions and guidance of the Commander of the Army, Lieutenant General Vikum Liyanage RWP RSP ndu, Colonel Commandant of the Corps of Sri Lanka Engineers and the Chief Field Engineer (CFE). The Commanding Officer of the 14 CBRNE Response Unit closely monitored the smooth conduct of the workshop.
A training team inclusive of 01 Officer and 05 Other Ranks conducted the programme and the workshop skillfully intertwined theoretical explanations with practical demonstrations, delivering a comprehensive learning journey for all the participants involved. The theoretical segment encompassed an array of engaging lectures, meticulously structured to encapsulate the intricacies of explosive and IED identification.
In addition, the participants were awarded a unique opportunity to witness firsthand the complexities and nuances involved in the identification of IEDs and explosives. The session not only complemented the theoretical knowledge but also provided a realistic understanding of the challenges faced in the field.
