Giving an enhanced boost to its ongoing project for demarcation of the country's '2nd Coconut Triangle' in Mullaitivu, 64 Infantry Division troops under command to the Security Force HQ - Mullaittivu (SFHQ- MLT) launching its 2nd phase of the distribution gave away 2500 more coconut saplings to 40 selected families in Oddusuddan area in Mullaittivu on 23 November after inviting the beneficiaries to the 64 Infantry Division HQ premises.
The project was initiated as per guidelines given by Major General M.K Jayawardena RSP VSV USP ndu, Commander, Security Forces - Mullaittivu. Major General M.S Dewapriya USP, General Officer Commanding, 64 Infantry Division organized the event.
By free distribution, the SFHQ- MLT expects to make the project a huge success in line with the government's decision to carve out the second Coconut Triangle which can in the near future produce nuts for self-sufficiency. Saplings were provided by the Alampil Government Farm.
Senior Officers, Officers, Other Ranks and Officials of respective government institutions attended in the event.
