Troops of the 53 Infantry Division with the intention of further enhancing bonds of civil-military cooperation facilitated and coordinated the donation of dry ration packs among 130 selected low-income group families living in Dambulla, Sigiriya, Inamaluwa, Digampatana, Polattawa, Varahena, Nagalwewa, Siyambalawewa, Kimbissa, Pahalewwa, Welihena, Kalogahaela, Rotorigama, Henwelayagama, Palwehera and Kandalagama areas on l2 November 2023 after inviting them to the Division Headquarters premises in Dambulla.
The sponsorship was provided by Ven K. Seelananda Thero at Asgiri Maha Viharaya Kandy (A student of Peradeniya University) with the financial assistance received from a Vietnam delegation, including Ven Samma Jothi Maha Thera and Ven Viyan Therani. Troops supported the arrival of those recipients to the location in consultation with respective Grama Seva officials.
On the same occasion, representative donors gifted a wheelchair to a disabled person.
Major General P.G.P.S Ratnayake RWP RSP ndc, General Officer Commanding of 53 Infantry Division, Brigadier K.L.S.S Liyanagama RWP RSP, Deputy General Officer Commanding 53 Infantry Division and Colonel M.A.H.W Premachandra RSP, Colonel Admin And Quartering of 53 Infantry Division provided necessary guidance to organize the event in coordination with donors and the Divisional Secretariat.
