The 3 Sri Lanka Armoured Corps Regiment (SLAC) celebrated its 35th anniversary on 16 Nov 23 at its Kalattewa camp premises. Lieutenant Colonel N.V.A.M Vithanage RSP psc, the Commanding Officer of 3 SLAC graced anniversary events as the Chief Guest.
Prior to the anniversary day, merits were transferred on fallen War Heroes and religious blessings were invoked on injured war heroes and serving Army personnel at Jaya Sri Maha Bodhi premises before residents in ‘Ashoka' orphanage at Anuradhapura were provided a free lunch.
On the Anniversary Day, a Guard Turnout and a colourful parade were reviewed by the Commanding Officer upon his arrival. An awarding ceremony for distinguished soldiers who performed well in sports and other acts in the previous year followed afterwards. The Commanding Officer after a while addressed the troops before he was invited to plant a sapling in the compound to signify the anniversary day.
The anniversary programme ended with an All Rank get-together and a lunch.
