SLAC Colonel Commandant Familiarizes with His Troops

Major General S.W.M Fernando WWV RWP RSP VSV USP ndc psc, Military Secretary of the Army and Colonel Commandant of Sri Lanka Armoured Corps (SLAC) made his first visit to the 6 SLAC camp in Morewewa, Trinco on Saturday (04 Nov).

The Senior Officer was greeted in a Guard Turnout at the entrance before he was warmly welcomed by the Commanding Officer of 6 SLAC.

Afterwards, the Colonel Commandant of SLAC addressed the troops in the compound and conducted a camp visit. During the troop address, he emphasized the importance of maintaining high standards of discipline as individuals and the value of military service, and the importance of being exemplary to Other Ranks. Further, he urged all Officers to be aware of the latest Army Orders and criteria published by the Army Headquarters on Officers' career progression.

Adding memories to the day, he planted a sapling in the compound and posed for a few group photographs with the gathering. Prior to his departure, the Colonel Commandant penned some complimentary remarks in the visitors' book.

Brigadier P.N Wijesiriwardena RSP USP, Centre Commandant of SLAC, Brigadier L.K.T Fernando RSP USP, Commander, Armoured Brigade, Brigadier Y.H.P Rangajeewa USP, Commander, 223 Infantry Brigade, Senior Officers, Officers and Other Ranks took part in the day’s event.
