The Security Force HQ - Mullaittivu launching its 2nd phase of the distribution of coconut saplings under the proposed demarcation of the ‘2nd Coconut Triangle’ in Mullaittivu area, gave away 1335 more coconut saplings to the selected families in Theravil and Sugandipuram areas in Puthukuduirippu, Mullaittivu on Monday (6 November).
The project, initiated as per guidelines given by Major General M.K Jayawardane RSP VSV USP ndu, Commander, Security Forces - Mullaittivu and Major General S Ksthurimudali RSP ndc psc, General Officer Commanding, 68 Infantry Division was meant for 26 families representing 6 Grama Sewa Sectors in the areas served by the 681 Infantry Brigade of the 68 Infantry Division.
6 Gemunu Watch (GW) troops distributed those coconut saplings among the families in Theravil while 9 Sri Lanka National Guard troops distributed the saplings in Sugandipuram.
Brigadier S Wijesiriwardana RWP RSP, Brigade Commander, 681 Infantry Brigade closely supervised the troops at work.
