16 GR Troops Stage Disaster Management Demonstration for Hospital Staff in Puttalam

16 Gajaba Regiment (16 GR) troops of the 143 Infantry Brigade under the 14 Infantry Division of the Security Force HQ – West, responding to a request made by the Director at Puttalam Base Hospital presented a disaster management demonstration on Tuesday (31 Oct) at the hospital premises.

Major S.A.D.P Jayarathna, Commanding Officer, 16 GR conducted the programme with the participation of 02 Officers and 20 Other Ranks of the unit under the supervision of Major General W.H.K.S Peiris RWP RSP VSV USP ndu, Commander, Security Forces – West, Major General K.A.W.N.H Bandaranayake USP, General Officer Commanding of the14 Infantry Division and Brigadier T.M.F Kitchilan RWP RSP, Commander,143 Infantry Brigade.

The demonstration educated the hospital staff on the implementation of emergency operational modules, importance of decision-making, collective responsibilities, swift adoption of preventive and precautionary measures, be they in the event of a tsunami, floods or any other natural or man-made disasters, emergencies, etc
