Members of the Security Force HQ - Mullaittivu (SFHQ-MLT), together with organizers of the ‘Aarya Foundation’ launched its customary ‘Udarayi Oba Ranaviru Kriyanwithaya’ (You are a Brave Warrior) programme on Saturday (28 Oct) at the SFHQ-MLT premises with the participation of more than 800 Officers and Other Ranks.
Religious observances, recital of the national anthem and observance of two-minute silence set the stage for the day’s agenda.
Major General Upali Rajapaksha (Rtd), Mr Charith Kiriella, Chairman of ‘Aarya Foundation’, Senior Advocate Sanjaya Ranthunga, Veteran Sister and Social Worker Ms Pushpa Ramyani De Soyza, Veteran Actor Bandu Samarasinghe, Veteran Singer Indrajith Dolamulla, Veteran Actor Senaka Wijesinghe, Veteran Singer Warrant Officer I Sampath Chularathna (Rtd) respectively took part in the commemoration by delivering brief speeches on the unforgettable experiences in the Mullaittive battle fronts while some of those artists entertained the gathering.
Afterwards, participants were given the opportunity to speak about the programme and its conduct in the second session. Towards the end, Major General M.K Jayawardena RSP VSV USP ndu, Commander, SF-MLT presented a special memento to Mr Charith Kiriella, Chairman of ‘Aarya Foundation’ and the team appreciating the initiatives of the organizers.
General Officer Commanding, 59 Infantry Division, Major General D.K.S.K Dolage USP psc, General Officer Commanding, 64 Infantry Division, Major General M.S Devapriya USP ndc, Commander, Forward Maintenance Area - Mullaittivu, Major General D.A Amarasekara USP, Senior Officers, Officers and Other Ranks also took part in the programme.
