The dilapidated house roof of Mrs. Magaline Perera who lives with her elderly husband in Monarathenna, Welikanda was relieved when 9 Sri Lanka Artillery (SLA) troops of the 233 Infantry Brigade voluntarily came forward to repair it considering their miserable plight.
The deserving family reached Major General M.K.U.P Gunaratne RSP ndu psc IG, Commander, Security Forces-East for assistance in this connection as the roof was heavily leaking and not suitable for living.
Providing technical support, 9 SLA troops with the support of the Corps of Engineer Services (CES) completed the project within a few days and formally notified them on Friday (27 October).
The project was implemented under the guidance of Major General K.V.N.P Premaratne RSP USP psc, General Officer Commanding, 23 Infantry Division and Colonel A.K.C.S De Silva, Brigade Commander, 233 Infantry Brigade.
