SLCMP Trains Soldiers on ‘Traffic Control & Traffic Management’

The Directorate of Provost conducted a three-day training workshop on ‘Traffic Control and Traffic Management’ in combination with the City Traffic Division of the Sri Lanka Police from 19th to 21st October at SLCMP Regimental HQ, Polhengoda. The core objective of the workshop was to widen the knowledge of the Officers and Non-Commissioned Officers of Sri Lanka Corps of Military Police (SLCMP) on the subject area.

The beginning of the workshop was marked with the opening address by Major General A.C.A De Zoysa USP Hdmc Lsc, Provost Marshal of Sri Lanka Army and Colonel Commandant of Sri Lanka Corps of Military Police where he emphasized the value of the knowledge in this field as Provost Members to carry out Police duties to match with high standards.

Altogether, 06 Officers and 59 Non-Commissioned Officers who perform island-wide provost duties participated in the sessions. The workshop content included modules, related to introduction of motor traffic act and important relevant sections, Introduction to traffic control, Authority of Controlling of the traffic in public roads, introduction of road signs, traffic colour lights and traffic rules, offences, committed by Army drivers and riders, Handling of Convoys, Liaison with Civil Police and Civil authorities and Speed checking of vehicles.

The Centre Commandant, Regimental Centre, Sri Lanka Corps of Military Police, the Commanding Officer Special Investigation unit, Colonel Provost of the Directorate of Provost also participated in the workshop.
