3 (V) Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment and 9 Sri Lanka National Guard troops of the 68 Infantry Division, provided generous support to three low-income groups farmers in Puthukkudiyiruppu and Sudandipuram areas by tilling and preparing their abandoned paddy fields for re- cultivation during 14 - 19 October.
Farmers had abandoned those paddy fields due to financial constraints as they were unable to afford the cost for tilling and egg seeds. Accordingly, troops provided financial and physical assistance to prepare fields and provision of paddy seeds.
The projects were conducted under the guidance of Major General S Kasthurimudali RSP ndc psc, General Officer Commanding, 68 Infantry Division. The supervision of respective Commanding Officers with the intention of developing harmony and peace among the troops and locals expedited the completion.
