The 8th phase of the Sri Lanka Sinha Regiment’s (SLSR) ‘Ranaviru Housing Project’ gifted one more new house to the family of an SLSR Sergeant who suddenly passed away due to a neurological complication several months ago.
12 SLSR troops joined hands together to honour the memory of their comrade, late Sergeant A. M Senavirathna Banda. On Saturday (14 October 2023) SLSR troops formally vested the new house, sponsored by SLSR troops to his widow and three children during a brief ceremony at Rikillagaskada.
The ceremony was attended by Major General G.R.R.P Jayawardena, Quarter Master General at Army Headquarters Sri Lanka Army and Colonel of the Regiment, SLSR. Mrs. Omila Jayawardena, Chairperson of the SLSR Seva Vanitha Branch (SVB), Brigadier C.S Tibbotuge, Centre Commandant, SLSR, and Lieutenant Colonel M.C.S Jayasekara, Commanding Officer, 12 SLSR, along with Officers and Other Ranks of the 12 SLSR.
The new house, equipped with three bedrooms, a dining hall, a kitchen, and a bathroom, was constructed by technically qualified troops of the 12 SLSR.
The guidance of Major General G.R.R.P Jayawardena and Mrs. Omila Jayawardena, Chairperson, SLSR - SVB whose SVB members supported the project by providing funds and essential household items, enabled the successful conclusion of the project.
In addition, Brigadier C.S Thibbotuge and Lieutenant Colonel M.C.S Jayasekara also played vital roles in the construction project, providing assistance in multiple ways.
