The 1 Sri Lanka Signal Corps (SLSC) serving under the Security Force HQ - Mullaittivu celebrated its 80th Anniversary in a series of religious observances and military formalities during 30 September 2023 to 14 October 2023 under the guidance of Major G.T.K De Silva RSP USP Lsc, Commanding Officer, 1 SLSC.
At first, an all-night Pirith Chanting ceremony got underway on 30 September 2023 followed by offer of alms to members of the Maha Sangha on the following day in memory of fallen War Heroes.
On Saturday (7 Oct), a Hindu Pooja was arranged at the Wattappalei Kannaki Ammaan Kovil premises. An inter squadron cricket and a volleyball tournament were held afterwards on the next day (8 Oct).
Moreover, an All-Rank get-together was organized on Tuesday (10 Oct) and a ceremonial Guard of Honour saluted the Commanding Officer on the Anniversary day (14 Oct).
At the same occasion, a sapling was planted in the premises as a symbol of memory and Officers and Other Ranks who performed well in sports received certificates while civil staff were presented with gifts in appreciation of their service.
Senior Officers, Officers and Other Ranks took part in the series of events.
