61 Infantry Division troops, together with 9 Sri Lanka Sinha Regiment troops arranged transport facilities for students in flood-affected areas who were to sit for the Grade 5 examination on Sunday (15 Oct) on the instructions of Major General R.A.J.N Ranasinghe RSP USP ndc, General Officer Commanding of the 61 Infantry Division.
Accordingly, 22 students who were supposed to sit for the examination at six schools were provided transportation using Army’s Uni-Buffels, Boats, Cabs and Trucks in the morning.
In the meantime, at the request of Major General R.A.J.N Ranasinghe RSP USP ndc, Ven Kahagolle Somarathana Thero of Sidhuhath Foundation, Galle provided 200 sanitary napkin packets and 1000 drinking water bottles for 242 members of 72 flood-affected families who are temporarily residing at Hittetiya Rajamaha Viharaya in Matara.
The distribution was done on Saturday (14 Oct) in the temple premises and the Commander of 613 Infantry Brigade and Commanding Officer of 3(V) Gemunu Watch also took part in the distribution event.
