Major General H.D.W.K.N Eriyagama RWP RSP, General Officer Commanding (GOC) of 58 Infantry Division, made his maiden visit to the 582 Infantry Brigade located at Elakandawatta and its affiliated Battalions during 03 - 04 Oct with the intention of inquiring about the well-being of the troops.
The GOC of the 58 Infantry Division was warmly welcomed by the Commander of the 582 Infantry Brigade before he was greeted in a Guard Turnout at the entrance. Adding memories to the day, he was invited to pose for a few group photographs with the Brigade staff and was also invited to plant a sapling in the compound.
Afterwards, the Commander of the 582 Infantry Brigade briefed the GOC on the roles and tasks performed by the 582 Infantry Brigade and its affiliated Battalions before Major General H.D.W.K.N Eriyagama RWP RSP addressed the All-Ranks in the compound. Furthermore, he continued his visit to 1 Sri Lanka Light Infantry and 9 Gemunu Watch on the following day.
Meanwhile, Major General H.D.W.K.N Eriyagama RWP RSP paid a visit to the Army Infantry Training School (AITS) at Katukeliywa on Friday (06 Oct) with the intention of inspecting the training facilities in the premises.
Chief Instructor (CI) of AITS warmly welcomed the Senior Officer after he was saluted in a Guard Turnout at the entrance. The CI of AITS afterwards conducted a comprehensive briefing on the training facility before the GOC addressed the troops in the compound.
A visit in the compound and an All-Rank tea culminated the day’s agenda. Senior Officers, Officers and Other Ranks also took part in those events.
