The Mullaitivu Executive Officers' Association (MEOA) launched its inaugural meeting at the 591 Infantry Brigade HQ on Thursday (05 Oct) with the participation of a large gathering of serving Tri-Service Officers and government officials in the area.
The MEOA was formed according to a conceptual notion of Major General M.K Jayawardena RSP VSV USP ndu, Commander Security Forces - Mullaitivu, themed ‘Together We Achieve More’, with the purpose of providing a forum of executive level state sector officials of Mullaitivu district fostering interaction, bonds of comraderie and teamwork with synergized effort to render an excellent state service.
Major General D.K.S.K Dolage USP psc, General Officer Commanding of 59 Infantry Division and Colonel H.K.P Karunathilaka RSP supervised and made all necessary arrangements to found the MEOA and initiate its inaugural meeting.
Lighting the traditional oil lamp marked the beginning of the day’s agenda. At first, the General Officer Commanding, 59 Infantry Division enlightened the audience on the concept and the way forward to the MEOA. Afterwards, representatives of Police, Excise, Disaster Management and Forest Department conducted awareness sessions to the gathering before they concluded the cordial interactions after discussing future plans. Participants highly admired the Army’s ongoing community work in the area and thanked them for organizing this initiative.
Mr A. Umamaheshwaran, District Secretary of Mullativu graced the meeting as the honorary guest and delivered the closing remarks thanking the troops. Sixty nine executive officials, inclusive of General Officers Commanding, Senior Tri-Service Officers and Government Officials in the Mullaitivu area took part in the new initiative.
