2 (V) Gemunu Watch troops of the 61 Infantry Division promptly lent their tireless assistance to clear the earth mound that collapsed on the southern expressway near the 102 km post between Imaduwa and Pinnaduwa interchanges on Wednesday (11 Oct) due to torrential rains.
In view of the magnitude of the earth slip, Lieutenant General Vikum Liyanage RWP RSP ndu, Commander of the Army together with Hon. Premitha Bandara Tennakoon, State Minister of Defence on Thursday (12 Oct) visited the location in order to receive updates from the troops still at work.
Both visitors commended the efforts of the troops and shared a couple of views with them while giving necessary guidelines. A few Senior Officers and Officers were also present at the occasion.
