A medical team of the 1 Sri Lanka Medical Corps of the 61 Infantry Division continuing their emergency flood relief operations in Matara District provided medical assistance to affected 350 families in Uduwa, Kottawatta in Wellethota GN Division, 400 families in Galaboda, 270 families in Aththudawa Grama Seva Division, 320 families at Dalugoda and 270 families residing at Narangala, Pahala Witiyala and Karagoda areas during 10-11 October 2023.
Meanwhile, 61 Infantry Division troops together with 9 Sri Lanka Sinha Regiment troops continues flood relief operations at Aththudawa, Nariduwa and Naimbala areas by providing transport facilities by boats and military vehicles.
Similarly, another medical campaign was conducted for 55 families residing at Midellawala Temple in Midellawala with the support of medical teams and 9 Sri Lanka Sinha Regiment troops on Friday (13 Oct).
Major General R.A.J.N Ranasinghe RSP USP ndc, General Officer Commanding, 61 Infantry Division visited those Medical camps and witnessed the medical assistance being provided to flood-affected people in respective areas.
