Massive Stock of School Accessories Gifted to Jaffna Students thru Army Initiatives

511 Infantry Brigade troops of the 51 Infantry Division under the Security Force Headquarters - Jaffna with donors' patronage distributed school aid packs, each worth more than Rs. 5000/= among 48 students studying at Madihe Pangngnaseeha Primary School located at Puttur on Tuesday (19 Sep) at the school premises.

At the same time, more than 300 English books were donated to the school library. The project was conducted under the kind patronage of Sakya Youth Group, headed by the Chief Sanganayaka of the Amarapura Sri Dhamma Rakkitha Chapter in Australia, Venerable Panditha Digamadulle Wimalananda Thero.

Meanwhile, 11 Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment troops of the 521 Infantry Brigade organized another donation programme for students at Velvettiturai Karaveddy Sri Narada Vidyalaya on Monday (18 Sept) with the assistance of Shakyamuni Temple in Australia. During the event, 58 students received packs of school accessories, each worth more than Rs 5000/=.

On the same day, 11 Sri Lanka Engineers of the 523 Infantry Brigade also organized another phase of the same donation programme under the guidance of Shakyamuni Temple in Australia to distribute school aid packs, each worth more than Rs. 5000/= for 28 kids at Navatkuli Lakdaru preschool.

All programmes were arranged according to the directions and guidelines provided by Major General S.W.B Welagedara RSP VSV USP ndc, General Officer Commanding (GOC) of the 51 Infantry Division and Major General Y.A.B.M Yahampath RWP RSP ndu psc, General Officer Commanding of the 52 Infantry Division under the guidance of Major General S.R.K Hettiarachchi RWP RSP VSV USP ndu psc, Commander, Security Forces - Jaffna.

Respective Brigade Commanders, Colonel B.D.T.D Jayarathna psc, Senior Instructor of Junior Staff Course at Army War College, Buttala, Lieutenant Colonel N.B.A.U.K Nissanka RSP, Civil Affairs Officer of the 511 Infantry Brigade and respective Commanding Officers coordinated the programmes and supervised necessary arrangements.

Venerable Shrastrapathi Pandith Hakmana Sirisumana Thero, Venerable Shrastrapathi Panditha Gabvela Vajira Thero, Incumbent Thero Jaffna Sri NagaViharaya, Venerable Meegahajadure Sirivimala Thero, GOC of 52 Infantry Division, Brigade Commanders, Commanding Officers, Senior Officers, Officers, Other Ranks, Principals and Teachers took part in those programmes.
