With Sponsors' Support, 2 (V) GW Troops Erect New House for a Needy Family

Troops of the 2 (V) Gemunu Watch (GW) of the 613 Infantry Brigade under the 61 Infantry Division of the SFHQ-West offered their manpower, technical and engineering expertise and erected a new house for a deserving family in Wakwella, Galle with sponsorship provided by 'Everest' Sports Club.

The beneficiaries, Mrs K.S.K Perera and her family members who reside in Wakwella, Galle, received the keys from the Chief Guest for the occasion, Major General R.A.J.N Ranasinghe RSP USP ndu, General Officer Commanding of the 61 Infantry Division on September 11, 2023, during a simple ceremony.

The construction of the house was carried out by troops of 2 (Vol) GW with technical assistance provided by 8 Engineer Services Regiment troops. This construction project was closely supervised by the Commander of the 613 Infantry Brigade and the Commanding Officer of the 2 (V) GW.

The sponsors having noticed the family's helpless predicament reached the troops for assistance as members in the Sports Club were prepared to help the cause.

The warming ceremony was attended by the General Officer Commanding of the 61 Infantry Division, Senior Officers, Divisional Secretary for Bope, Poddala and members of the 'Everest' Sports Club. The commitment of the troops came in for praise of the participants and the sponsors alike since the house was built within weeks.
