Canadian High Commission Delegation Receives Updates on Role & Tasks of SFHQ-East

A delegation from the High Commission of Canada in Colombo paid a courtesy visit to Security Forces Headquarters - East (SFHQ-E) on Monday (18 Sept) with the intention of commencing ‘Readiness Programme Outreach’ in the Eastern Province.

Mr. Harsha Senanayake, Security/Readiness Programme Officer and Mr Ron Bebusschere of Military Police Security Services of Canadian High Commission were warmly welcomed by Major General M.K.U.P Gunaratne RSP ndu psc IG, Commander, Security Forces - East on their arrival.

The aim of the visit was to foster collaborative partnerships and ensure optimal mission preparedness among all stakeholders while establishing a strong network.

Afterwards, both parties had a cordial discussion on emergency preparedness, disaster responses and security-related matters in the area.

During the meeting, the Eastern Commander briefed them the role and tasks of the SFHQ-E with special emphasis on reconciliation, development, and assistance being provided by the Army to the general public for their day-to-day affairs.

The delegation afterwards left for Trincomalee and Batticaloa to continue with the ‘Readiness Programme Outreach’ in the Eastern Province.

Brigadier A.H.A.D Ariyasena RWP RSP USP psc, Brigadier General Staff of the SFHQ-E also took part in the cordial interactions.
