New Director of Information Technology Begins Office

Colonel H.D.J.P Weerathunga assumed duties as the new Director, Information Technology (DIT) at the Directorate of Information Technology at the Army Headquarters on Wednesday (06 September) 2023 during a simple ceremony amidst religious blessings.

The incoming Director was warmly welcomed by Overlooking Colonel Information Technology, Lieutenant Colonel W.R.M.R Wickramasinghe USP at the Sri Lanka Army Headquarters premises.

The new Director during a simple ceremony left his signature for an official document and signified the acceptance of his new duties amid chanting of ‘Seth Pirith’. Soon after assumption of duties, he addressed the Officers and Other Ranks in the Directorate.

The new Director, Colonel H.D.J.P Weerathunga served as the Commander, Signal Brigade, Sri Lanka Army, prior to his new appointment.

He succeeds Brigadier G.L.S.W Liyanage USP psc who has now been appointed as the Director of Overseas Operations.

Senior Officers, Officers and Other Ranks of the Directorate of Information Technology were present at the occasion.
