64 Division's New GOC Assumes Duties

Major General M.S Dewapriya USP ndc of Sri Lanka Armoured Corps assumed duties as the New General Officer Commanding (GOC) of the 64 Infantry Division of the Security Force HQ - Mullaittivu amid religious blessings on Friday (1 September).

The newly-appointed GOC of the 64 Division was warmly welcomed by Staff Officers and honoured in a Guard Turnout, presented by Division troops as he entered the premises. Afterwards, he was invited to plant a sapling as a gesture of memory before he moved to the office complex.

The new GOC in his office placed his signature for an official document to mark the assumption of his duties as members of the Maha Sangha began chanting ‘Seth Pirith’. After a while, he formally addressed troops at the Division HQ.

Brigade Commanders, Staff Officers of the 64 Infantry Division, Commanding Officers, Officers and Other Ranks were present during the day's event.
