The 17-member delegation of the Indian National Defence College, inclusive of Rear Admiral Sanjay Sachdeva NM SDS, Head of the Delegation arrived at the Army Headquarters and participated in a ‘Think Tank Interaction’ session at the multifunctional hall in Army HQ on Tuesday (29 Aug).
The session themed ‘Strategic Dynamics In The Indian Ocean Region: Sri Lankan Perspective’ was comprised of three sessions and was conducted by the Directorate of Research Concept and Doctrine with the coordination of the Directorate of Training.
Dr Satyanjal Pandey, Deputy High Commissioner of India in Sri Lanka, together with Major General M.G.W.W.W.M.C.B Wickramasinghe RWP RSP ndu psc, Director General General Staff of Sri Lanka Army graced the occasion as the chief guest.
Dr Satyanjal Pandey’s keynote speech inaugurated the day’s event and Dr Harinda Vidanage of General Sir John Kotelawala Defence University conducted the first session on ‘Strategic Dynamics in the Indian Ocean Region’.
In addition, Ms Charani Patabendige, Acting Research Analyst and Research Assistant at the Institute of National Security Studies and Rear Admiral J.J Ranasinghe (Rtd) VSV, USP, psc, a Director from the think-tank delivered sessions on ‘Road Map Strengthen Regional Cooperation in South Asia; Sri Lankan Perspective’ and ‘Presence of Extra Regional Powers in the IOR and its Impact on National Security of Littoral’ respectively.
Each session was followed by a Question and Answer session and the closing remarks were delivered by the Director General General Staff of the Army. Towards the end, Major General M.G.W.W.W.M.C.B Wickramasinghe RWP RSP ndu psc presented special mementoes to Dr Satyanjal Pandey and Rear Admiral Sanjay Sachdeva NM SDS. Further, the Head of the Delegation gave away a token of appreciation to the Director General General Staff of the Army.
Brigadier P.K.S Nandana RSP USP psc, Director, Directorate of Training, Brigadier P.C.L Gunawardena RWP RSP psc, Director, Directorate of Research Concept and Doctrine, Captain Vikas Sood, Defence Advisor of High Commission of India in Sri Lanka, Lieutenant Colonel Puneet Sushil, Assistant Defence Advisor of High Commission of India in Sri Lanka, Senior Officers and Officers also took part in the session.
