East Commander Familiarizes with 24 Infantry Division's Areas of Responsibility

The Commander Security Forces - East (SFHQ-E), Major General M.K.U.P Gunaratne RSP ndu psc IG, upon his assumption of office recently, made his maiden visit to the 24 Infantry Division, Ampara and its under Commander Brigades during 21-23 August.

On 21 August, the General Officer Commanding (GOC), Major General W Chandrasiri RSP USP psc of the 24 Infantry Division and all officers warmly welcomed Major General M.K.U.P Gunaratne RSP ndu psc IG on his arrival at the 24 Infantry Division premises after he was saluted in a Guard Turnout. Later, he addressed the troops under the 24 Infantry Division.

Adding memories to the day, the Commander SFHQ-E was invited to plant a sapling in the premises and posed for a group photograph. After the visit of 24 Infantry Division HQ, the Commander SF-E witnessed the progress of the Deegawapiya Restoration Project and the brick production project in progress under the supervision of the 24 Infantry Division.

On the following day (22) prioritizing religious rituals, the Commander SF-E visited Muhudu Maha Viharaya, and Okanda Devalaya to invoke blessings. Subsequently, the Commander SF-E visited 241 and 242, Infantry Brigades, deployed in Akkaraipattu, and Kallady areas in Batticaloa respectively where he had rounds of discussions with respective Brigade Commanders and Battalion Commanding Officers. On the same day evening, Commander SF-E had an interaction session with the government stakeholders at the Officers’ Mess at the 24 Infantry Division.

Subsequently, the Commander SF-E on 23 August made a filed visit to the 243 infantry Brigade and Buddangala Raja Maha Viharaya. Afterwards, he attended a donation programme at the Ampara Elders’ Home which was organized by the 24 Infantry Division under the instruction of the GOC, Major General W Chandrasiri RSP USP psc. During his visit, he visited Norachcholai housing scheme as well.
